Located in the Almaden Valley area of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California.
Our area is more famously known as “Silicon Valley.” Few people know that this area was originally know for it’s produce. In particular, Plums, Peaches, Apricots and other stone fruit. Each of my sons have worked on a small farm during one of their high school summers.
Almaden Shaving is less than one mile from the original location of the Almaden Winery (now in Madera, CA) which was established in 1852. Now a historical landmark:
The winery was in production through the mid 1980’s. Too bad it’s not operating today I could get some of my raw ingredients for Almaden Shaving Oil from the Almaden winery. What’s the saying? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure… like the guy that was hauling sawdust away from saw mills, for free, to make his firelogs. Or, what about the bio-diesel pioneers that were able to get used vegetable oil from restaurants who previously had to pay to have the oil removed from their premises… (I wouldn’t use that) 😉
