Should an Athlete Shave their Legs?

As an endurance athlete, you might wonder should an athlete shave their legs? While there are only “two” answers, yes or no, most people would argue that there are numerous variations or reasons along a continuum as to why one would shave.  I don’t know if we can help you with the yes, no or why, but we’ll put down some thoughts as to why if an athlete shave s they should use our amazingly awesome premium shaving oil…

Why should I use Almaden Shaving premium shave oil rather than some other product?

You will find our product to be so well lubricating that you can use it out of the shower.  Created by and for Athletes.  Unparalleled performance when compared to ordinary soap, shaving cream or foam.  Our super-lubricating formula reduces drag, nicks and cuts, razor burn, in-grown hairs and dry skin.  The essential oil blend creates an awesome smelling experience for an athlete shave in the shower.

Why do athlete shave?

– Why not? Because they can! There are any number of reasons that an athlete whether swimmer, triathlete cyclist etc. may choose to shave.  These include making the athlete more aerodynamic or hydrodynamic and minimizing drag through the air or water. After workout massages are easier, applying lotion is easier, psychological advantage, appearance, tradition, crash survivability.

What does shaving have to do with crash survivability, that make no sense?!

Assuming an athlete shaved, after a crash, shaved legs are easier to clean and so are less susceptible to infection.  Scarring can be minimized by easier, more complete application of antibiotic creams or ointments that are not interfered with by hairs.

How often should I shave my legs with Almaden Shaving premium shave oil?

Every time you shave!  While there is no reason to change the frequency of shaving once you switch to Almaden shaving oil, we think you’ll want to because it provides such a wonderful experience?

Can I use Almaden Shaving Premium shave oil on areas that have never been shaved before?

Absolutely! Our shaving oil works best on trimmed or previously shaved areas.  So if this is the first time, we recommend using clippers, scissors, trimmer etc. to substantially reduce the bulk and length of hairs being shaved. This will help to minimize razor clogging.

How do I use Almaden Shaving premium shaving oil out of the shower?

While you don’t need water to shave with, you will need something to clean yourself and your razor with.  Situate yourself in a comfortable location preferably near a sink or have a bottle of water near by.  Wet you leg with water.  Apply 8 – 12 drops of oil along your leg and then using a wet hand, massage it into your skin.  Shave, rinsing razor often.  If it starts to pull or drag, add more water not oil, When done, pat the area clean with a damp cloth.

Can I shave other areas of my body with Almaden shaving oil? Certainly, it was designed to enhance and improve shaving any area of the body.  It can even be used with electric razors.  If you want to use it with an electric, use about half as much oil and NO water. Be certain to allow it to penetrate the hair shaft for a good 30 seconds or so before starting the athlete shave.

Are there any Parabens in your product? There are NO parabens in any of our products.  We use only the finest natural ingredients.  All of our plant oils are expeller pressed, not chemically extracted so we (and therefor, you) don’t need to worry about chemical residues being left behind and contaminating our product.

Any Triethanolamine? Nope, nary a drop.  Triethanolamine is a petroleum derived compound that is used (unfortunately) in most commercial shaving creams… it is actually great for cement production, manufacturing ink, paint, metalworking fluids and polishes.  Why would anyone put it in something that goes on your body?  Well it is a great surfactant and emulsifier meaning it helps dis-similar compounds join together.  Think of oil and water, they don’t like each other. Surfactants help to keep the oil and water joined together a little longer.

Pixie dust? We’d like to think so 😉 but it’s really just a unique combination of carrier oils and essential oils that provide “super-lubrication” in a highly-absorbing and ultra-moisturizing formula for an athlete shave.
